Prevalence, serotype distribution, and antimicrobial susceptibility profile of Streptococcus pneumoniaein Sea Nomad children under 5 years of age in Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia: A cross-sectional study

Abstrakt: •A total of 61.9% of Bajau children in Wakatobi (southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia) are colonized with Streptococcus pneumoniae.•Exposure to cigarette smoke and runny nose are significant risk factors for colonization.•The most common serotypes are 23F, 6B, and 19F.•A total of 48.9% of the isolates were of the PCV13-vaccine type.•This study may contribute to baseline pre-vaccine data in Indonesia.
