•Reports isolation of an opportunistic pathogen, “Stenotrophomonas maltophilia”from kidneys of diseased cultured Rainbow trout in India.•Antibiotic susceptibility profile showed Stenotrophomonas maltophiliaas multi-drug resistant.•Resistance to beta lactams, macrolides and aminoglycosides (except gentamicin).•Susceptible to Tetracycline and chloramphenicol. |
