Abstrakt: The emergence of porous materials for controlled drug administration, rapid release, enhancing stability, and turning liquid into powder formulation is a more recent research trend. The micronized synthetic amorphous silica-gel product line from Fuji Sylysia Chemical is called Sylysia. This substance is quite adaptable and can be utilized in a wide range of sectors, such as adhesives and sealants, plastics, paints and coatings, and inks. Sylysia is available in different grades vis-a-vis Sylysia 250, 320, 350, 370, 380, 420, 430,440, 450, 470, 530, 550, 710, 730, 740, and 770. In the current review, pharmaceutical applications of some grades of Sylysia are discussed critically with many case studies. The pharmaceutical applications of Sylysia include solubility and dissolution rate enhancement, improvement in stability of liquid formulations by converting them into powders by adsorption, prevention of oxidative degradation, improvement in flowability and compressibility, lubricant for granules for tablet compression and capsule filling, etc. Sylysia can be considered as a potential carrier for pharmaceutical product development as adsorption to Sylysia involves simple technique, and the methods are scalable and feasible from industrial point of view.
