Abstrakt: Lightning is a random and unpredictable phenomenon that can cause serious damage to the high voltage equipment of power stations. Due to the presence of metal structures and high voltage levels, high voltage substations attract more lightning in unfavorable weather conditions than other similar non-electrical facilities, and since the high voltage substation equipment is very expensive. It is necessary to protect the station equipment against this destructive phenomenon. By installing a lightning arrester in high voltage substations, lightning waves and switching are prevented from entering the substation through the propagation of traveling waves through the lines connected to the power station. Since there is a possibility of lightning hitting the post directly, in order to prevent equipment damage due to direct lightning strikes, the issue of shielding in the design of high voltage posts is relevant. It is necessary to revise the shielding of the posts and improve the design of the shielding system against direct flashover strikes in the old and operating stations based on the records of incidents caused by this phenomenon. In this article, after the analysis of the cover areas of the guard rod against lightning, the investigation of the incident that occurred in a high voltage substation due to the direct impact of lightning on the power transformer has been discussed and while analyzing the existing shielding system, a corrective plan has been studied and presented.
