Abstrakt:	Small erosional channels (gutter casts) and associated or isolated pot casts in shallow marine deposits of different age have currently been interpreted as tidal flat indicators. Field studies and flume experiments, however, indicate a submarine origin by currents producing around obstacles (shells, pebbles, holes) horse-shoe-shaped hollows, which may develop into downstream channels.
