Design of optical filters by using double defect layered 1D ternary photonic band gap structures for optical communication and remote sensing

Abstrakt: In this paper, designs of optical filters are demonstrated by using double defect layered 1D ternary photonic band gap (PBG) structures. The wavelength of light to be filtered by this double defect layered 1D ternary PBG structure can be chosen by changing the structural parameters of the 1D PBG structure. The double defect layered 1D ternary PBG structures considered here show isolated transmission peaks of different widths in the output spectrum. So, double defect layered 1D ternary PBG structure is one of the most suitable photonic structures to design narrowband, wide band and ultra-wide band optical filters. These optical filters have applications in communication and remote sensing.
