Microstructure and dielectric properties of Cu and Ho modified BaZrTiO3ceramics for energy storage applications

Abstrakt: The present study deals with undoped and Cu:Ho doped Ba(Zr0.05Ti0.95)O3perovskite compounds that were synthesized by the solid-state reaction method. The Rietveld refinement of the XRD data established the formation of a tetragonal phase having space group P4mm. A reduction in grain size and density with increasing Ho3+and Cu2+concentrations has been observed. An increase in the value of static dielectric constant and a considerable decrease in dielectric loss was observed in Cu2+:Ho3+doped Ba(Zr0.05Ti0.95)O3ceramics. The room temperature value of energy storage density (ξ = 93.30 mJ cm−3) was measured in modified BZT ceramic corresponding to Cu2+:Ho3+composition, which may find an important application of this material in energy storage devices.
