ABSTRACTThe present paper shows the experimental investigation of diesel engine performance using alternative fuels. Biodiesel has formed from Madhuca longifolia seed oil blended in different volumes, suspended with titania nanoparticles. Characterisation of titania nanoparticle was performed to verify its size. Titania nanoparticles have been suspended in B25 at the dosage of 50 ppm,100 ppm, and 150 ppm. The results showed the best performance for B25 + 100 ppm of titania nanoparticles in terms of improved BTE by 2.5%, reduced BSFC by 3.4%, and HC, CO, and reduced smoke. Also, tests have been conducted to get the optimum injection pressure and timing for B25 + 100 ppm. The best performance has been achieved at 240 bar injection pressure and 27oBTDC crank angle for B25 with 100 ppm of titania nanoparticle. The maximum cylinder pressure for B25 + 100 ppm fuel at 240 bars injection pressure increased by 7-8% and reduced smoke and HC emissions by 18.5% and 19.5%, respectively. |
