A new radiological adjuvant, Veripaque, and a technique for its use, are described. It enables contraction and emptying of the colon to be observed by fluoroscopy and produces an excellent mucosal pattern. An account is given of the sequence (and site) of the contractions in the caecum and colon following administration and some practical applications are mentioned. By means of this preparation, radiological examination of the colon becomes a more exact study, not only of structural detail but of functional activity. |
