Nine patients with severe chronic renal failure (creatinine clearance 5 ml. minute or less) were examined by high-dose excretion urography before and after haemodialysis. Though mean urine/plasma ratio of contrast medium rose slightly after dialysis, a “blind” radiographic scoring system suggested that opacification of the urinary tract improved significantly in only two patients. However, in all patients the urinary tract was sufficiently well opacified to allow ureteric obstruction to be excluded even before dialysis. |
