Abstrakt: Serum protein-bound iodine determinations in 22 subjects at intervals varying between two and 16 years from myelography showed marked elevations even after 12 years.Evidence is presented to suggest that this is the result of iodine residues from the myelography rather than from other causes. The subsequent confusion in diagnosis which can occur is described. Possible dangers to health which may result, namely thyrotoxicosis in adults with nodular goitre and congenital myxoedema in the infants of affected mothers are discussed and suitable precautions advised.
