The results obtained with a radiographic device offering a simple means of assessing and controlling the quality of diagnostic X-ray beams have been compared with spectra measured with a scintillation spectrometer. The comparison shows that for a range of types of X-ray generator the radiographic measurements can be interpreted in terms of the mean energy of the spectrum used. The mean energy of spectra generated by voltages between 40 and 100 kVp can be determined with an accuracy of about 1 keV. For a given tube voltage waveform it has been shown that the device can be used to indicate peak voltage (kVp). |
