Abstrakt: 1. The uptake of radioactive phosphorus in the thymonucleic acid fraction of rat tumour tissue is markedly inhibited by X rays.2. The uptake of radioactive phosphorus in the ribonucleic acid fraction is also inhibited, but to a smaller extent.3. Nembutal inhibits the uptake of radioactive phosphorus in both these fractions and should, therefore, not be used as a sedative during the irradiation.4. The observation of Hevesy, that irradiation of one tumour can affect the nucleic acid metabolism of another tumour in the same animal, has been confirmed.
