The cis/transratio of the products was studied for the platinum catalyzed hydrogenation of 4-methyl-, 4-isopropyl-, and 4-t-butylcyclohexanone in the presence of bases. Contrary to both the von Auwers–Skita rule and the results for platinum oxide catalyst already reported, addition of sodium hydroxide promoted the formation of cis-isomer. |
