Abstrakt: Jolo, the largest island of the Sulu Archipelago of the Philippines even today belongs to the unexplored areas of this country. Only a few geographic and geologic data have been recorded in the references. Therefore the investigation of the morphology of the island is a beginning. The total survey of the features has been accomplished entirely by photogrammetric methods. They made it possible to state the occurrence of two stages of volcanism and the far spread distribution of marine terraces on Jolo and the neighbouring islands. All stages of uplift are associated with the volcanic activity which in its earlier time in the west was accompanied with prevailing uplift and tilting from SE, S and SW directions whilst in the recent phase in the E an opposite tendency from the northern part was prevalent. The central part of Jolo too has been affected by these varying movements. This development produced vast zones of geologic disturbances, being located between the individual areas, where intensive volcanic activities occur.
