Abstract: Clinal variation in some morphological traits is described in the Italian locust Calliptamus italicus italicus. The trait values increasing from west to east and from north to south can be accounted for by the effect of climatic factors, mostly the temperature, the number of warm days, and the amount of precipitation during the warm period. Records of the species in East Transbaikalia outside its known distribution range are presented. |
