Abstrakt: •Fluid polarization with T1dispersion simulated for crude oils flowing through a Halbach magnet.•Effective polarization magnet length calculated from known field distribution and sample T1dispersion behavior.•Conventional NMR flow meter concept is relatively insensitive to T1dispersion details.•Earth's field NMR flow meter concept is very sensitive to T1dispersion details.
