•Different reduction sequences were identified and described for the assemblage of Guomo site.•Guomo site represents a new case to study the variability of cobble-tool industries in southern China and Southeast Asia.•The industry of Guomo site provides a case to rethink about the question of the definition of “Hoabinhian”.•The homogeneity and varation of different industries in suthern China and mainland Southeast Asia were further discussed. |
