Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder affecting reproductive-age women and is associated with increased rates of comorbid psychiatric illnesses. Studies evaluating the biological etiology of psychiatric symptoms in women with PCOS remain limited. This review presents an overview of recent research on the prevalence of comorbid psychiatric conditions and the effectiveness of current treatments in targeting psychiatric symptoms among PCOS women, as well as areas for future research. |
