Carbon dioxide retroperitoneal pneumography combined with body section radiography is a safe and reliable method of evaluating the adrenal region. It is also of considerable assistance in evaluating other obscure lesions of the retroperitoneal region including the perirenal, renal, paraspinal and pancreatic areas. The history, evolution and detailed technique of this diagnostic procedure are presented along with the normal anatomy, its variations and several examples of well demonstrated, proved lesions. |
