The present work investigates the systems of the super inorganic coatings of zinc with finishes of polyurethane and polysiloxane applied in carbon steel exposed in the atmosphere of Poza Rica Veracruz, through Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and Polarization Resistance Techniques. Coating systems were exposed to the atmosphere on a 45 degree adjustable exposure panel, heading towards prevailing winds and were evaluated electrochemically at different exposure periods. The coatings studied protect the steel from corrosion by increasing the impedance as the polymer film is hydrated due to the activation of pigments, mainly zinc, the base component of the super inorganic that seals the pores and heterogeneities of the coating, so they are an alternative to counteract the damages caused by atmospheric corrosion. |
