Abstrakt: Electrical power systems’ operation and control functions rely on analytical tools for setting safe and secure operating limits and for maintaining reliable service. These tools utilize mathematical models of the power system components and equipment in the form of differential and algebraic equations. These mathematical models are formulated and coded in the form of computer programs used to determine the power system operating state or its response to various changes and disturbances, such as generation and load variations; switching operations; and faults. The results of these analyses are heavily relied upon for the operation and control of power systems and for managing and monitoring their performance.
