AbstractCounseling professionals’ (N = 186) were surveyed on the amount of training they completed on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) competent counseling, scores on the LGBT Development of Clinical Skills Scale (LGBT-DOCSS), and the frequency they provide instruction and training on LGBTQ competent practice. Results indicate that LGBT-DOCSS scores predicted frequency of instruction on LGBTQ competent practice, adjusting for the influence of identifying as LGBTQ, counseling specialty, and amount of LGBTQ training received by participants. Implications, limitations and future directions are discussed. |
