Abstrakt: If in some small way this information has been useful in your practice, our aim has been accomplished. The principles of good preand postoperative care of the dental surgery patient have been reviewed. Diagnosis, which is the crux of the entire problem, has been stressed. Since cardiac disease appears to be on the increase and people are living longer, a larger percentage of our patients will require premedication to avoid dental emergencies. Therefore some of the medical conditions that influence dental surgery and the usual precautions and premedications that pertain to them are presented. A few pertinent preoperative instructions that may assist patientdoctor rapport have been mentioned.
