Abstrakt: Ti6Al4V has wide usage in aircraft and marine industries on account of good strength/weight and corrosion resistant. But their machinability is difficult. Use of higher thermal conductivity graphene can help in extracting heat generated and improve the machinability of Ti6Al4V. The present work evaluates the effect of using graphene in two different forms while machining Ti6Al4V. In one form, graphene is mixed as additive in emulsifier oil and is sprayed as minimum quantity lubrication and in other form; graphene is filled in holes drilled on cutting tool to form self-lubricating tools. Use of 0.3 wt% graphene dispersed emulsifier oil showed best machining performance with 55% and 59% decrease in machining zone temperature and tool wear and among self-lubricating tools, G5 tool showed best performance with 12%, 34% and 35% reduction in cutting forces, machining zone temperature and tool wear respectively at 112 m/min with respect to dry turning.
