Abstrakt:	Cycloaddition reactions between a new homochiral imidazolone-derived nitrone afford cycloadducts in high yield and with high stereoselectivity. Subsequent cycloadduct elaboration affords the γ-lactones of γ-hydroxy-α-amino acids as well as the optically pure amino acids themselves.
