Abstrakt: Ligation of the uterine vessels in pregnant rats leads to reduced concentrations of C-peptide in the amniotic fluid. The reduced C-peptide levels reflect an impaired fetal insulin secretion. This may be one of the mechanisms of pathogenesis of intrauterine growth retardation in the presence of a deficient maternoplacental supply line to the fetus.
