Abstrakt: The iKalahan people of the Philippines have traditionally had a rich religious involvement in every aspect of their lives. Since the majority of the people of the southern Kalahan area have become Christians within the last decade, they are still trying to work out the problem of maintaining the unity and richness of their community life while they readjust their religious activities to conform to their new faith. The author describes and gives a sample text of a traditional house dedication ceremony, then gives a Christian adaptation which has been successfully adopted by the iKalahan Christians. Much is made of functional equivalence between the two ceremonies.
