Abstrakt: In an attempt to select a drug for senile dementia, primary screening was undertaken from the view point of lipid peroxidation. Some types of dibenzoxazepine derivatives could be distinguished from others by their inhibitory effect on alloxan stimulated lipid peroxidation and anti-hypoxic effect, respectively. Furthermore, in the final step of screening, a few analogues were selected by the acquisition test in light-dark discriminative learning of food reinforced lever-pressing in aged rats (21 months old). Taking into account the safeties of these compounds, BY-1947 seems to be one of the most possible ones for use.
