Abstrakt: Mineralogical handbooks (Hintze 1904; Doelter & Leitmeier 1926; Palache, Berman & Frondel 1944) contain four references of minerals of the tetrahedrite- tennantite series with more than 2.0 weight percent Bi: tennantite (rionite) from Cremenz with 13.07 weight percent Bi, tennantite (annivite) from Valle d’Annivers with 4.94 weight percent Bi, tennantite from Neubulach with 6.53 weight percent Bi, and tennantite from Freudenstadt with 4.55 weight percent Bi. These data are based on analyses made between 1854 and 1906 on specimens, which were not studied under the microscope. A recent microprobe study of tetrahedrite-tennantite minerals from various localities shows only one reference to a bismuthian tennantite: tennantite from Wittichen, Schwarzwald, contains 12.5—15.9 weight percent Bi (Springer 1969). In this paper a bismuthian tennantite with 6—7 weight percent Bi is described from the Mangualde pegmatite, Viseu district, Portugal.
