•Pax-5 and Blimp-1 sequences were identified in orange-spotted grouper.•In healthy groupers, Pax-5 expressed highly in vital lymphoid tissues, whereas Blimp-1 expressed relatively equal among tissues.•Grouper B cell responses occurred earlier in systemic immunity.•Grouper IgM and IgT might collectively play an important role in adaptive immunity. |
