Superconductivity and Magnetic Properties of DyBa2Cu3Oy

Abstrakt: The superconductivity and magnetic properties of DyBa2Cu3Oyare reported. Superconducting properties are compared with those of YBa2Cu3Oy. No significant effect is observed by replacing Y with Dy. Magnetic properties of a quenched DyBa2Cu3Oywhich is not metallic, are also reported. From the susceptibility and the magnetization at low temperatures, an antiferromagnetic transition is suggested at about 0.85 K and the magnetic moment in the ground state is estimated to be 6-7 µB. It is argued that the magnetic order is mainly due to dipolar interactions.
