Recently, a novel species contaminansbelonging to the family Burkholderia cepaciacomplex (Bcc) is rising as a hospital pathogen. Detection of Burkholderia contaminans, a member of Bcc can be done only by MALDI TOF and sequencing techniques. We report the diagnostic challenges faced in an outbreak of bacteremia due to B. contaminansgrown in diltiazem vials. |
