•Milli-Q® Water and nanowater (NW) were used to collect slaughterhouse bovine ovaries.•Milli-Q® Water and NW were then used for in vitrobovine embryo maturation (IVM).•There were no differences in cleavage rates between Milli-Q® Water and NW.•There were no differences in blastocyst formation between Milli-Q® Water and NW.•NW is a safe substitute for Milli-Q® Water for bovine ovary collection and IVM. |
