Abstrakt: The Ilizarov method is widely applicable to cases of limb length discrepancy, especially intra-articular fractures, fractures associated with bone loss, chronic osteomyelitis, and deformity of either congenital or developmental causes. The Ilizarov method is a minimally invasive technique. Little disruption of the tissue’s blood supply is realized. Complete function of the extremity is an essential feature. Tissue growth is accomplished by slow distraction in a rigid fixator composed of small diameter pins and tensioned wires. These wires are affixed to a frame consisting of circular rings. Bone and soft tissue can be generated by precise placement of hinges and distracters.
