CONGENITAL anomalies of the vertebrae occurring together with intrathoracic gastrogenic cysts were studied, in an attempt to clarify the pathogenesis of these cysts. REPORT OF A CASE A 4½-month-old boy was brought to the Wilhelmina Children's Hospital on June 12, 1948. He had been born spontaneously at full term, with a birth weight of 3,100 gm., and had been breast-fed exclusively. The development had been normal, the infant weighing approximately 5,800 gm. at the time of admission. There had been no previous illnesses. The father and mother were 23 and 20 years old respectively; one other child was 20 months. The father had pulmonary trouble accompanied with a cough. This condition had been present for the previous five months.From information received from the relevant clinic it became known that he had pulmonary tuberculosis and that his sputum gave a positive reaction for tubercle bacilli.
