CRYPTORCHIDISM TREATED WITH GONADOTROPIC PRINCIPLE

Abstrakt: Within the past few years numerous investigators have reported on the treatment of cryptorchidism with the anterior pituitary-like gonadotropic principle of the urine of pregnant women. The number of cases reported by any one observer has in each instance been small. Although the reports as a whole have been extremely favorable, there has arisen justifiable skepticism as regards this form of treatment in a large number of unselected cases. We have been able to treat and study ninety-six unselected patients with cryptorchidism, a series large enough to eliminate any of the chance results of a smaller series. Besides, we have observed and treated several patients with hypoplasia of the genitalia but without cryptorchidism and several with postoperative atrophy of the testicle.We were able to compare the effects on cryptorchidism and the genitalia of the gonadotropic principle obtained from the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland with those of the
