INTRACRANIAL HEMORRHAGE OF THE NEW-BORN

Abstrakt: Perhaps I should apologize for discussing a condition which has been so thoroughly treated by various writers. However, I have two reasons for choosing this subject. First, owing largely to some statistics brought out at the White House Conference on Child Health and Protection and widely disseminated, there has been a large popular interest in intracranial hemorrhage of the new-born: an interest which has been associated with a great deal of criticism of the medical profession. Second, I think it is frequently wise to review a subject critically though it may have received a great deal of attention, since often its exposition has followed beaten paths, which may or may not lead to rational conclusions.It is my intention not to attempt to discuss the entire subject of intracranial hemorrhage but to pick out certain phases which seem to me most worthy of consideration.
