Abstrakt: Sir.—We read with interest the report "Yersinia enterocolitica Septicemia in Normal Infants" by Shapiro (Journal 1981;135:447-448). We report a similar case and confirm that Y enterocolitica septicemia can occur in children who show no evidence of underlying disease or immunoparesis.Report of a Case.—An 8-week-old male infant was admitted to The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, with fever and diarrhea. The infant had been well until two days before admission when he came to the emergency room with these symptoms. His condition was good, and he was sent home on a diet of clear liquids. The diarrhea worsened in the following two days, and he was admitted to the hospital because he was having ten to 12 loose, watery stools per day. His history was noncontributory.
