Height and weight were determined in 7,500 children aged 5 to 14 years who participated in the Pediatric Multiphasic Program at Kaiser-Permanente Medical Center in San Francisco during 1967 to 1970. In general, the black children were somewhat taller and heavier, and those of yellow skin color markedly shorter and lighter, than the white children. Development and use of separate standards for height and weight in children of white, black, and yellow skin color are recommended. |
