Abstrakt: INTRODUCTION The finding of microscopic anomalies of renal tubules, presumably congenital in nature, in cases of the nephrotic syndrome in early infancy has been reported by Giles and co-workers.1The association of renal vein thrombosis with the nephrotic syndrome in a wide age group is well known,2,3 and one case occurring in infancy has been reported.4In the case to be presented, a prematurely born infant who displayed the nephrotic syndrome was found to have both longstanding thrombosis of the right renal vein and the inferior vena cava and, as shown by microdissection of the kidneys, congenital defects of the proximal convoluted tubules. Electron microscope studies revealed immature glomeruli and tubules which did not differ significantly from those observed in normal kidneys of similar age. REPORT OF CASE Clinical History.—The patient, a white, male infant, was born June 14, 1958, and died Aug. 23 of the
