Abstrakt: •Non-invasive and non-destructive nature of the CT-scan permits us to better understand the magical-religious practices in autochthon communities.•This original study of a nkishiwooden sculpture from the Songye ethnic group allows to compare the data of the anthropological literature with new scientific data resulting from the bio-medical examination.•Complete bio-mimetism is present in such artefact from sub-Saharan Africa, mimicking internal anatomical conducts.
