Steady-state operating conditions for porous electrodes with liquid reactants are considered, accounting for ohmic losses, activation and concentration polarization. For diffusion supply of reactants, the general solution in a closed form is obtained for the problem of distribution of the electrochemical process in a porous electrode with finite thickness. Obtained in an explicit form and discussed are particular solutions of the same problem for the regions of high and low polarizations. For forced supply of reactants, two cases are considered: front and rear supply. For both cases the solution in an explicit form is obtained for low polarizations. A method for numerical solution is developed which is valid for the whole range of polarizations. This allows us to obtain and discuss the data for the rear reactant supply. Based on the solutions obtained, expressions for the efficiency of a porous electrode are presented. |
