Abstrakt: •Intrathecal interferon β (IFNβ) attenuates mechanical allodynia without behavioral deficits.•Interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) is induced by IFNβ in the spinal cord and mediates analgesic effects.•IFNβ mediated analgesia and induction of ISG15 is potentiated in UBP43−/−mice.•IFNβ treatment inhibits MAPK signaling by ISG15 activation.
