Abstrakt: Effects of 12 solution/soil ratio‐shaking time combinations upon Mn extracted by 0.1NHCl, 0.1NH3PO4, 0.005MDTPA, and 1NNH4OAc from 12 Michigan and Indiana soils were studied. A solution/soil ratio of 25 with 120 min of shaking maximized extractable Mn by the four extractants. However, with 0.005MDTPA and 1NNH4OAc shaking time and solution/soil ratio had little effect on extractable Mn. When results were correlated with Mn uptake by soybeans [Glycine max(L.) merr.], the best correlation was obtained with a solution/soil ratio of 5 and 120 min of shaking for 0.1NHCl and 0.1NH3PO4. Correlation of plant Mn uptake with DTPA‐ and NH4OAc‐extractable Mn was relatively independent of solution/soil ratio‐shaking time combinations used.
