Abstrakt: The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has identified education and outreach as vital to global efforts that emphasize the responsible use of chemicals. To promote students’ exposure to broad-reaching applications of analytical chemistry, a chemical-weapons-themed project was implemented in an upper-level analytical chemistry course. In this project, students developed laboratory and data analysis skills needed to complete organic structure analysis, professionally communicated their data and conclusions, and considered chemical analysis in an applied context. This project grounds the topic of multiuse chemicals in a case-based, active-learning context.
