Abstrakt: Isolated cases of septicemia associated with probiotics have been reported. We describe Bacillus clausiisepticemia in a 4-month-old male infant with congenital heart disease following treatment for diarrhea with a probiotic containing B. clausiispores. The septicemia proved refractory to treatment with antibiotics active against the pathogen and progressed to multidrug-resistant sepsis with multiorgan failure.
