Abstrakt: 1.1. The oxygen consumption of the tree shrews, Tupaia chinesis, was studied in relation to sex and ambient temperatures.2.2. The oxygen consumption per unit of body weight of the tree shrews is lower than that of the insectivores and greater than that of primates.3.3. There was no significant difference between males and females metabolic rate.4.4. The metabolic rate increased by exposure to cold and decreased by exposure to heat.
