This study compared the performance and job satisfaction of matched groups of rehabilitation counselors with graduate and undergraduate degrees. The performance of the two groups were evaluated on the basis of the number of cases rehabilitated; the relative difficulty of cases closed rehabilitated and cases rejected; the effectiveness of their counseling techniques; and client ratings of the counselors. The performance differences between the two groups were significant (.05 level) only in counseling skills, where the graduate degree counselors were rated as significantly more effective. The ratings of job satisfaction on eight variables: revealed a significant (.05 level) difference in the area of progress and attainment of future goals, undergraduate degree counselors indicating higher satisfaction. |
