Abstraction of a F+ion from F2leading to formation of the ion pair [(CH3)3]NF+…? F-occurs when trimethylamine and F2are mixed in the gas phase under conditions that preclude production of F atoms. The presence of this ion pair in (CH3)3N/F2mixtures emerging from a fast-mixing nozzle has been unambiguously established from several of its properties determined by rotational spectroscopy. |
